Axl Rose found jury service 'relatively painless'.

The Guns N' Roses frontman has confirmed he took part in a short trial recently. He was requested to sit on a jury for four days and found the process much more enjoyable than he'd expected.

'It was relatively painless,' he told People. 'I was fortunate that everyone in the courthouse and jurors were all really great, plus I got to see daylight from a different prospect.'

The musician finished the process on Tuesday. He sat on the jury on a civil trial which took place in Santa Monica, California.

It's been a busy time for the rock god. He has only just finished a US tour with the famed band, the first time they have played a series of shows in the country for five years.

They have other big things coming up, as they are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. Other groups receiving the honour include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys and Donovan.

Graham Coxon announces new ablum - A+E

Advertisements

added: 13 Jan 2012 // by: newsdesk

Graham-Coxon-announces-new-ablum---A+E Email this story Printable version

Graham Coxon returns to Parlophone for his new album titled A+E, which will be released on 2nd April. A+E is Coxon's first release since the acclaimed, acoustic-driven The Spinning Top.

Aptly named not only for the sense of scratchy, frantic urgency that suffuses its 10 songs, A+E finds Graham continuing with his singular vision as a truly eclectic artist. Playing all the instruments and improvising in the studio, Coxon found himself preoccupied with lyrical themes around the effects of weekend hedonism in modern Britain, on which A+E shines an outsider's light, albeit with a mordant, sharp wit.

Produced by Ben Hillier, A+E features Coxon's distinctive, visceral garage-punk-pop and is inspired by the experimental genres of Krautrock and the black & white, post-punk era ' bringing to mind artists such as Neu! ('City Hall'), Can and Kraftwerk ('What'll It Take'), as well as Peter Hamill, Joy Division ('Knife In The Cast') and Monochrome Set - with hypnotic, driving grooves ('The Truth'). This may be the closet Graham has ever come to making, in a skewed sense of the word, 'dance' music.

Coxon describes the album as, 'Improvisations, experiments in beats, rhythms. A chance to uninhibitedly make some sort of perversely sad, danceable and funny and despondent songs.' Adding 'I didn't want to get caught up in my usual struggle with trying to make things sound really posh. I didn't want lovely 60s-sounding drums and valves.'

In keeping with the album's themes, Graham will curate the bill on a special tour around the UK in April, where he'll invite his fans to nominate local bands to support him ' he will then select his favourite for each venue (please go to www.nme.com / www.grahamcoxon.co.uk for further information).

Nada Surf behind the scenes video released

Nada-Surf-behind-the-scenes-video-released Email this story Printable version

Ahead of the release of NADA SURF's first album of new material in four years, they have uploaded a new behind the scenes video which sees them playing acoustic, cooking and chatting about life as a member of the band.

'The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy', released on 23 January 2012, is NADA SURF's sixth studio album, and third for City Slang, following the successful and critically lauded 'The Weight is a Gift' (2005), 'Lucky' (2007) and their self-released covers record 'If I Had a Hifi' (2010) that was intended to be only available at shows but forced into normal retail by popular demand.

It is also accompanied by live shows in London and Glasgow early next month. See below for details.

NADA SURF's line-up for 15 years has been and still is Matthew Caws (vocals, guitar), Daniel Lorca (bass) and Ira Elliot (drums), though this time, they invited guitarist Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices) to join in the recording process as well as a certain increasingly prolific Martin Wenk of Calexico fame. Chris Shaw (Wilco, Brendan Benson and Super Furry Animals) was brought in to produce and record, having worked with the band before when he mixed their 2005 smash, 'Always Love.'

'We've always played faster and a little harder live," Caws says, "but we'd play so carefully in the studio. So with this album, we made a conscious decision to preserve what it felt like in the practice room, when you play with that new-song energy. Just embrace it and not worry whether we're overdoing it, kind of get all the thinking out of the way."

Nada Surf will be in London and available for interview this coming Monday January 16th.

They also play the following live shows:

07. Feb UK Glasgow - King Tuts
08. Feb UK London - Koko

Toni-Braxton-hospitalised-for-lupus Email this story Printable version

Toni Braxton suffered a 'lupus flare-up' this week.

The Breathe Again singer experienced pain from the skin condition and was admitted to hospital.

Lupus is a rare form of tuberculosis of the skin that causes brownish swellings that hurt and heal slowly.

Toni is grateful for the good wishes she has received from fans and loved ones.

"I wanted to say thanks to all my fans for their support, as I have been experiencing some flare ups with my lupus which has me in the hospital for a few days,' Toni told TMZ.

Although in pain, Toni knows that she will feel 100 per cent better once her ulcers heal.

"I wanted to clear the record before rumours started, and will totally be fine as I''m blessed to having an amazing family for support,' Toni said.

In November 2010 Toni shared that she suffered from the autoimmune disease.

It is hereditary as her brother also shares the condition and her uncle died from lupus complications.

Lupus can affect many areas of the body, including skin, kidneys, joints, blood cells, the heart and lungs.

It is unknown when Toni will be released from hospital.

Adele still smoking?

Adele-still-smoking? Email this story Printable version

Adele has reportedly been seen smoking despite recently undergoing throat surgery.

The British singing sensation is apparently struggling to kick her habit, according to Life & Style.

The 23-year-old had microsurgery to remove a benign polyp from her vocal cords two months ago which forced her to cancel several tour dates.

But an eyewitness has told the publication that during a night out with new boyfriend Simon Konecki recently, she was seen smoking.

'Adele and Simon had dinner at Bobby Rubino's in Pompano Beach, Florida on January 1,' the bystander said.

'Right after they were done, she walked out of the place and had a cigarette outside.'

And ten days after arriving back to London, the Someone Like You songstress was also seen smoking in a car.

Just before her surgery Adele said she had 'absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly' or 'risk damaging my voice forever'.

Adele spoke last year of an earlier attempt to give up smoking which she called 'f**king grim'.

'My voice was better when I wasn't smoking,' she told Glamour magazine. 'Within a week I noticed it had changed, but I'd rather my voice be a bit sh*t so I can have a f**king laugh.'

Daryl Hall celebrates 50th Edition of Live From Daryl's House with Keb Mo

Advertisements

Daryl-Hall-celebrates-50th-Edition-of-Live-From-Daryls-House-with-Keb-Mo Email this story Printable version

Internet series come and go but few attain longevity. That's what sets Daryl Hall's Live From Daryl's House apart from the rest. His next episode, debuting January 15, marks his 50th edition of the program.

To celebrate the landmark 50th episode, Daryl Hall gets back to his own blues and gospel roots with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Keb Mo. The latest installment of the Webby Award-winning series debuts on Jan. 15 at www.lfdh.com.

The Compton, CA-born blues and gospel singer, guitarist and writer started his career playing steel drums and upright bass in a calypso band, before starting to record in the '70s with Jefferson Airplane violinist Papa John Creach in an R&B band when he was 21 years old. Keb Mo has been nominated for a Grammy six times in his career, winning three, including a spot in this year's Best Blues Album category for his latest, The Reflection, released last summer on Yolabelle/Rykodisc.

Said Keb Mo of his Live from Daryl's House experience: "To work with an artist the caliber of Daryl is a great honor. I've admired his work for many years and for me, this was a great honor."

Daryl and Keb Mo collaborate on a seven-song set that includes a Hall track, Cab Driver, from his 2003 solo album, Can't Stop Dreaming, as well as the Daryl Hall and John Oates hit single, Everything Your Heart Desires, from the 1988 album, Oooh Yeah!

The two also perform five songs from Keb Mo's The Reflection, including the hit single, The Whole Enchilada and We Don't Need It, which features a video with Camryn Manheim in a poignant interpretation of how family bonds can transcend hard times, with a video that can be seen here: http://bit.ly/sX83gM. Other Keb Mo songs featured on this very special 50th Live from Daryl's House include All the Way, Inside Outside and My Baby's Tellin' Lies.

Says Daryl: 'Keb Mo defines the phrase nice guy" His smooth effortless soul and blues style works perfectly in my house. Can't wait to work with him again!'

The past five years have marked a steady stream of superlatives and recognition for Live from Daryl's House, with Hall receiving a Webby Award for Best Variety series from more than 10,000 entries at the 14th annual ceremony three years ago at N.Y.'s Cipriani Wall Street before garnering an O Music Award from MTV last year.

Live from Daryl's House is being shown weekly in over 80% of U.S. homes in the nation's top 200 media markets, as well as all of the top 10, including New York (WPIX), L.A. (KTLA), Chicago (WGN), Dallas (KDAF) and Houston (KIAH). The show has also cleared in such key markets as Philadelphia (CBS-owned KYW), Boston (KBIN) and Atlanta (WATL), as well as a number of NBC, Fox and CBS-owned affiliates across the country. Most stations are airing a full hour with two original shows back to back on Saturday nights. The first week of the show did a .2 in national Nielsens, with the second week increasing 50% and several stations adding airings.

The 49 previous episodes of Live From Daryl's House have featured a mix of well-known performers like Booker T and the MGs, Blind Boys of Alabama, Rob Thomas, Train, Smokey Robinson, The Doors' Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek, Guster, Toots Hibbert, Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Todd Rundgren, Dave Stewart, Goo Goo Dolls' John Rzeznik and Patrick Stump along with newcomers such as Nikki Jean, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Mayer Hawthorne, Eric Hutchinson, Chromeo, Matt Nathanson, Parachute, Plain White T's, Sharon Jones, Diane Birch, Fitz & the Tantrums and Neon Trees.

Leonard Cohens reveals Darkness

Leonard-Cohens-reveals-Darkness Email this story Printable version

Leonard Cohen has revealed his new spoken word song off his upcoming album Old Ideas.

The song is called Darkness and is his first release since Dear Heather in 2004 and his twelfth studio album for his career.

Darkness sees Cohen muse on his experience on this Earth in that comforting, all-knowing tone that only Cohen can inject into song.

'The present's not that pleasant, just a lot of things to do. I thought the past would last me, but the darkness got that too,' he sings at one point. 'Winning you was easy, but darkness was the prize,' he sings at another. As though recounting a rich life of experiences.

Old Ideas will see the light of day on January 30.

Eddie Van Halen has donated 75 electric guitars from his collection to music programs at schools throughout the Los Angeles area. The gift was made in cooperation with the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.
Van Halen said in a statement, "Music is the universal language. It has the ability to transcend and convey every human emotion that exists without saying a word. Music kept me off the streets and out of trouble and gave me something that was mine that no one could take away from me.
"Music education and families are dealing with the economic times, and I wanted to help them. If I can help a kid discover a liking, or even a passion for music in their life, then that's a wonderful thing. Music has provided a good life for me and hopefully it can help make life better for others with this donation."

A group called the Rolling Stones Liberation Front have issued six demands prior to the group's announcement of any 50th anniversary tour. They say if all six aren't met, they will wage a non-violent disruptive action. The demands are:
We want smaller venues.
We want lower ticket prices.
We want a set list overhaul.
We want to eliminate the horn section and back-up singers.
We want the expulsion of all opening acts.
We want all fans to take responsibility for themselves.
To read the details behind each of the demands, check out the article at Classic Rock magazine.

The Academy of Country Music has announced that Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton will return for their annual awards show on April 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It is Blake's second year as host and Reba's fourteenth.

The next night, the stars will return to the venue to tape ACM Presents: Lionel Richie and Friends - A Lifetime of Hits. The special will air later in the year on CBS.

k.d. lang has filed papers to dissolve her domestic partnership with Jamie Price. The two first met in 2003 and entered into a partnership contract in 2009.

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, TN has reached a major milestone, it's 25th anniversary year. Parton said of the restaurant "Over the years, some incredibly talented performers, those with two legs and those with four legs, have thoroughly amazed audiences with their talents, and our 25th anniversary season will be no exception!"

Jim Reeves is one of the most successful artists in country music history, racking up hits for years after his death in a 1964 plane crash. Larry Jordan, who knew Reeves and was close friends with his wife, Mary, has written a new book on the singer, Jim Reeves: His Untold Story.

John Parr, who hit in 1985 with the Theme From St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion), has recorded a new version of the song for Denver Broncos' quarterback Tim Tebow.

Velvet Underground get legal with Apple over banana

Velvet-Underground-get-legal-with-Apple-over-banana Email this story Printable version

The Velvet Underground, the band formed by Lou Reed and John Cale in the 60s, has taken legal action against the Andy Warhol Foundation for selling his iconic Banana album design to Apple.

The artwork was originally used on the 1967 album 'The Velvet Underground & Nico'.

The lawsuit this time claims the image is symbolic of the band and fans relate to the image as The Velvet Underground. They claim that by selling the image to Apple for iPad and iPhone products that the Andy Warhol Foundation is cheapening the name of The Velvet Underground and associating them with a product they would never endorse.

However, the artwork was never copyrighted because Andy Warhol originally licenced the image from an ad.

The album was a commercial failure in its day. It entered the Billboard chart in May 13, 1967 at no. 199 and was out by June 10, 1967 after only getting to no. 177. The group disbanded in 1973 and in years to come the album went on to become one of the most important records of its time.

Amber Rose: Stop bullying me

Amber-Rose:-Stop-bullying-me Email this story Printable version

Amber Rose is 'sick' of being bullied by the public.

The 28-year-old model is famed for her high-profile relationship with Kanye West. Since splitting up with him in the summer of 2010, Amber has found herself on the receiving end of some harsh comments from the rapper's fans.

The star says she is not deserving of such cruel remarks.

"I have people throwing things at me in the street because they're fans of Kanye,' she said before getting upset. "I'm just crying because I don't deserve to be bullied like that. I'm a nice girl, I don't bother anybody. I keep my mouth shut because I don't want any trouble. To be bullied through music and stuff like that, it's not fair to me.

"I don't deserve that, and I'm sick of being bullied."

Amber was speaking on RapFix Live on Wednesday where she was promoting her debut album and the film Gang of Roses 2, which will be released on February 14.

The stunning star wants to move on with her life, and says her current relationship with rapper Wiz Khalifa is helping her to do that.

"I'm done, I'm moving on with a new career. I'm in love with Wiz. I'm happy. I just want to move on with my life, and we can get everything out right now and then I'm done,' she smiled.

"I'm so happy now that I actually have a gentleman, a great guy that I love so much. Wiz knows that I never loved a man the way that I love him. He knows that, he's very secure with that."

Amber recently slammed Kanye for allegedly cheating on her with Kim Kardashian.

The model claimed that the rapper got close to the socialite while they were still together in a recent interview.

The 29-year-old songstress has been chosen to perform at the prestigious NFL championship game on February 5, a source has revealed.

Amber Rose: My boyfriend is perfect

Amber-Rose:-My-boyfriend-is-perfect Email this story Printable version

Amber Rose 'doesn't see any flaws' in her boyfriend Wiz Khalifa.

The gorgeous model is very much in love with Wiz.

Amber cannot think of anything bad to say about her beau.

"He's so freaking cute, that's my baby right there," Amber gushed on RapFix Live. "He's beautiful, he's perfection to me. I don't see any flaws when I look at him."

Wiz and Amber were rumoured to have married in September 2011, but that did not occur. The pair did move into the same building around that time period though.

"When we met, we fell in love and then he moved to LA and he wound up moving in my building and we just started our life like that together," Amber explained. "It's good, we're not married yet, and it's good that we still have our separate places. I have a lot of clothes, so my clothes are not going to fit in his condo at all."

Amber enjoys doting on Wiz. The rapper is a fan of Amber's domestic skills.

"I get up in the morning, I cook him breakfast every morning. I rub his feet, I give him kisses, feed him breakfast in bed," she detailed. "I clean the house, I run the shower for him; I iron his clothes and whatever he wants. I love him; I would do anything for him. He is a spoiled brat when it comes to me. I don't let him lift a finger; I do everything for him. I am the wife, I take care of all that. He doesn't have to do anything."

Amber feels that Wiz reciprocates in effort and appreciation.

"He respects me, he loves me, he gives me all that in return," she said. "We kinda do that to each other."

Lana Del Rey and Band Of Horses add David Cameron to growing fan base

Lana-Del-Rey-and-Band-Of-Horses-add-David-Cameron-to-growing-fan-base Email this story Printable version

British PM David Cameron claims to be a fan of Lana Del Rey and Band Of Horses, and says his kids have awful taste.

Cameron spoke to the Daily Telegraph about many topics, but as an epigraph he was asked about his personal life.

After listing what he was watching (Danish detective series The Killing), reading (a history of the Conservative party by Robin Harris), and playing (Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja), he revealed what he was listening to.

They wrote that he was a 'keen fan' of pop music, with Americana act Band of Horses and hyped singer Lana Del Rey being a couple of his current favourites

He also said that Bruno Mars and Katy Perry are 'beginning to infect my iPod', only because they are the 'appalling' choices of his children kids.

The Conservative leader has a track record of praising music on the cooler side of the spectrum, previously claiming to be a big fan of Morrissey and The Smiths during the election campaign last year.

This lead to Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr tweeting 'Stop saying that you like The Smiths, no you don't. I forbid you to like it' and Morrissey pointing out 'David Cameron is a hunter and he kills stag, and so forth, and that's everything The Smiths were against.'

Madonna: I date for love

Advertisements

added: 12 Jan 2012 // by: newsdesk

Madonna:-I-date-for-love Email this story Printable version

Madonna 'just happened' to begin dating much younger men.

The superstar is currently in a relationship with 24-year-old French dancer Brahim Zaibat.

Madonna does not discriminate romantically based on age.

"I didn't choose to, you know, I didn't, like, write down on a piece of paper -- I'm now going to have a relationship with a younger man," Madonna told Cynthia McFadden in an interview for American news programme Nightline. "That's just what happened. You see, that's the romantic in me. I just met someone that I cared for, and this happened to be his age."

Although Madonna is content with her romantic life currently, the twice-divorced singer admits that she longs for matrimony sometimes.

"[I miss] certain things [about marriage like] being a part of a family unit [and] not having to make all the decisions on my own,' she explained.

Madonna's love life is nothing extraordinary. Her romantic routine is rote.

"I go home and I wash my face and I put on my sweatpants and I lay down on the bed and I say, 'oh, please rub my feet,' and you know, [Brahim] says, 'no, you rub my feet. So, you know, behind the curtain, I'm just like everybody else."

Madonna divorced from her first husband actor Sean Penn in 1989.

The star has 11-year-old son Rocco with her ex-husband director Guy Ritchie and 15-year-old daughter Lourdes from a previous relationship.

The singer is currently busy promoting her directorial debut W.E.

Madonna's interview will air in full on Nightline in America tonight.

Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles' newborn baby daughter is already making music history.
Blue Ivy Carter was born on Saturday but thanks to her gurgles and cries heard at the end of her father's new track, Glory, she is already making her mark in the entertainment industry.
The track, which Jay-Z recorded a short time after the bundle of joy was born, is set to appear on Billboard's chart next week at No. 74.
By then Blue Ivy will be less than two weeks old and will make her the youngest ever person to appear on a chart.
Jay-Z's heartfelt tune has emotional lyrics about what his new bundle of joy means to him and listed the track as featuring B.I.C.
'The most amazing feeling I feel, Words can't describe what a feeling, for real, Baby I'll paint the sky blue, My greatest creation was you,' he raps.
Ironically, the song is Jay-Z's 107th entry in the charts which mirrors Blue Ivy's birthday of January 7th ' 1/07.
Stevie Wonder also showcased his baby daughter Aisha's coos on his son Isn't She Lovely but she was not a named person on the track.

Morrissey joins No Cruel Cosmetics campaign to end testing in EU

The BUAV is delighted to have the support of legendary singer Morrissey for its No Cruel Cosmetics campaign to end animal testing for new cosmetics sold in the European Union.

Morrissey said, 'Say no to injecting, force-feeding or forcing animals to inhale substances for a new lipstick or shampoo. Please join me in signing the BUAV No Cruel Cosmetics petition to stop the sale of new animal tested cosmetics in the EU.'

Morrissey joins a number of high profile celebrities to sign the No Cruel Cosmetics petition, including Sir Paul McCartney, Sienna Miller, Jodie Kidd, Jenny Seagrove and Kimberly Wyatt.

Despite UK and EU bans on animal testing for cosmetics, products can still be tested on animals in other parts of the world and then imported and sold in the EU. A marketing ban which would end this cruelty is due to come into effect in 2013. However, it is now in danger of being delayed, thereby putting thousands more animals at risk, who will continue to suffer and die needlessly in cruel tests for new beauty products sold in the EU.

A delay could mean that hundreds of thousands more rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats will be injected, gassed or force-fed cosmetics worldwide for new beauty products sold in the EU, including the UK.

Over one hundred and forty thousand people across the UK and EU, including Morrissey, have already signed the No Cruel Cosmetics petition which is being sent to the European Parliament. The BUAV petition can be signed at www.NoCruelCosmetics.org.

Nerina-Pallot-returns-with-All-Bets-Are-Off Email this story Printable version

Nerina Pallot returns for 2012 with the gorgeous new single, 'All Bets Are Off.' Written by Nerina Pallot and produced by Bernard Butler the single has become a live favourite with fans on Nerina's UK tour this year. 'All Bets Are Off' is about the beginning of the end of a love affair, explains Nerina. 'When you know its over but you keep hoping for a miracle that never arrives.'

'All Bets Are Off' is taken from Nerina's album 'The Year Of The Wolf' which was released earlier this year to huge critical acclaim, receiving 4-star reviews from Mojo, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The Sun.

The album shows exactly why Nerina is one of the UK's finest and most in-demand songwriters. A songwriter that has been nominated for Ivor Novello's and Brits and written songs for artists including Kylie Minogue.

Nerina recently recorded three songs at Abbey Road for Jo Whiley's In Concert on Radio 2. The show commemorated 80 years of Abbey Road. As well as singing 'All Bets Are Off' and 'Grace', Nerina performed an incredible cover of Radiohead's 'High and Dry.'

Nerina Pallot is currently spending a lot of time in Germany where she is the guest mentor on The Voice. The #1 rated music show, which has already proved a hit in America, is currently one of the most talked about shows in Germany. Talking about her role on The Voice, Nerina said : 'Unlike other music competitions on TV the focus is actually on the quality of the singers voice as opposed to bad karaoke. The standard of singing is exceptional and as a result I am finding it inspiring and humbling to work with so many talented singers, my German could still do with some improvement mind.'

Anthony Hopkins: Musical ability was a shock

Advertisements

added: 13 Jan 2012 // by: newsdesk

Anthony-Hopkins:-Musical-ability-was-a-shock Email this story Printable version

Sir Anthony Hopkins didn't take his musical ability 'seriously' until recently.

The award-winning actor has turned his hand to composing and has written some orchestral music that is being released this month.

Music has always been a hobby of Anthony's, but he never thought twice about releasing it into the public sphere until his wife Stella Arroyave pointed out his talent.

"I have a piano ' I play every day, if I'm home ' and I've always improvised music and composed," he said in an interview with British newspaper The Independent.

"But I never took any of it seriously. I did it not out of ambition to be a musician or to be a composer, but for the sheer pleasure of it. Stella heard my playing over the years and said, 'Why don't you write those down?'"

Anthony says music comes naturally to him. The 74-year-old star warns that thinking too much about something is destructive to creativity.

"That's because I don't worry about it. I don't think, 'I've got to get this perfect, I've got to analyse it...' If it sounds OK to me and other people like it, then I go ahead,' he explained. "I have catholic tastes and no preconceptions. I love listening to Vaughan Williams, Delius and Elgar, but I also listen to country and western music and jazz. I listen to anything."

Anthony has explained the roots of his musical interests. The Hollywood star's passion for music started before his love of acting.

"I was a lonely kid because at school I was a real duffer. I was completely stupid, I didn't know what on earth was going on, so I withdrew into myself. I didn't have any friends at school and I never played with other kids. I sort of created my own world,' he explained.

'It sounds a little bit like a fairy tale, but I had no other choice. I could draw and I could play the piano. And that has stayed with me all my life."

Madonna names new album

Madonna-names-new-album Email this story Printable version

Madonna's twelfth studio album will be named MDNA, the pop superstar has revealed.

Speaking to British comedian Graham Norton in an interview for The Graham Norton Show, Mads revealed the name.

MDNA is Madonna's first album as part of her 360 deal with Live Nation and Interscope. The nature of 360 deals is that the deal maker gets a slice of all of Madonna's profits, not just from album sales. The name is a play on 'MDMA' ' the active ingredient in the drug ecstasy.

It will also be her first album not released through Warner Bros., who have had her on their roster since her 1982 debut.

The album has already made headlines after a Spanish man was arrested over the leak of the album's first single, Gimme All Your Luvin'. At the time Madonna expressed her disappointment in the leaker, who was never identified.

The single, which features vocals from M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj will be released at the end of January, just in time for her Superbowl performance. The album will be released in March.

Psychedelic kooks the Flaming Lips confirm Bon Iver for their crazy collaborative release.

Rolling Stone report that The Flaming Lips are now preparing to record with Bon Iver for a huge collaborative album that they plan to release in time for Record Store Day.

They've already recorded songs with Nick Cave, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Neon Indian and previous collaborators Plastic Ono Band.

The Bon Iver song is not yet finished, but ringleader Wayne Coyne is already pitching out to other artists, including Lykke Li, Erykah Badu and, for some reason, Ke$ha.

He told RS with regards to Ke$ha: 'We knew that she was a fan. There are a lot of these sort of druggy outlets out there that people get connected through.'

Both the Nick Cave and Yoko Ono parts were recorded remotely, but he didn't confirm whether they'll actually share studio space with the other artists.

The plan is to have the album out in April.

Sinead O'Connor has admitted that she was overdosing when she put out the plea on Twitter Wednesday for medical help. She told the Sun ""I took an overdose. God obviously wants me around, though I can't think why."

Madonna doesn't mince words about Lady Gaga in an interview with Newsweek. She said her reaction upon hearing Gaga's Born This Way and noticing the similarities to her own Express Yourself, "I thought, 'What a wonderful way to redo my song.' I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was. interesting."
She actually does like the singer, whom she considers much like herself. On this week's Graham Norton Show, she says "When I first saw her, I was really impressed by her and she was cool. She did remind me of me back in the day. I do think she is very talented."

The Beach Boys have a drummer lined up for their 50th Anniversary Tour. They'll bring back old stand-by from their 90's tours, actor John Stamos.

Harry Connick, Jr. starts a four week run next Wednesday as Mariska Hargitay's love interest on Law & Order: SVU. He may want to see if he can stretch that job out a bit longer as his current job on Broadway, starring in the revival of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, will close on January 29. In total, the show will have played 29 preview and 57 regular performances.

Peter Criss, former drummer for KISS, and Terry Bozzio (Frank Zappa, Missing Persons) will be inducted as Drum Legends by the Guitar Center retail chain. They will be honored on January 14.

Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn have signed with Atria Books (Simon & Schuster) for a new book detailing the behind the scenes activities of the original MTV veejays. The fifth of the original crew, J.J. Jackson, died in 2004.

Robin Gibb seeks alternative cancer treatment

Robin-Gibb-seeks-alternative-cancer-treatment Email this story Printable version

Robin Gibb has reportedly turned to 'a team of alternative medics' as he battles liver cancer.

The Bee Gees star was diagnosed with the disease last year.

He has received conventional treatment, including seven rounds of chemotherapy. Doctors are pleased with his progress and Robin has decided to add in other methods which may aid his recovery.

'Bee Gees star Robin Gibb has flown in a team of alternative medics from Switzerland as he battles liver cancer,' reports British newspaper The Sun.

It's claimed the group of people are on hand to help Robin 24 hours a day. The 'naturopath nutritionists' encourage him to eat foods which are good for the body so it is as strong as possible as he fights the disease.

The star's wife Dwina reportedly asked her husband to speak to the professionals as she is a big believer in natural medication.

'Robin is fighting this with dignity and courage. He's trying everything possible to beat this disease,' a source told the publication.

It's thought Robin, 62, has also been spending time in a special detox hut where his body sweats and so loses toxins.

Robin's diagnosis was first reported in November and came after the musician was seen looking increasingly frail in public. At the time it was claimed he was seeing doctors in London for treatment, but was also pursuing alternative care arranged by Dwina.

Shortly after his diagnosis was reported Robin posted a message on his website reassuring fans he was doing well.

'I have been very unwell and am now on the road to recovery, and your prayers and wishes are a great tonic to me. I believe because of you I will get well and my deepest love goes out to you all,' he wrote.

Robin's spokesperson has not commented on the new claims.

BBC Radio Two DJ Janice Long returns to Liverpool to host the launch party of Man Get Out's latest single 'Berlin' at Mojo on Saturday 28 January 2012. The event is a celebration of the much anticipated latest single from the band, which is released on Keep Out Records at midnight on the 28th.

The story of how Janice Long encountered Man Get Out is a veritable fairy tale. They were performing at a low key underground venue in Hoxton, London and unbeknown to them Janice was an impressed onlooker. Soon after the gig, the band switched on the radio in their van to hear the track 'Geronimo' being blasted down the airwaves. It was only the start of things to come as they received rave reviews from listeners, and were subsequently invited to the BBC studios for a live session on Radio 2 with the Bootle born DJ.

Ever since presenting a show on BBC Radio Merseyside, Janice has been an aficionado of new Liverpool music. In recent years she has championed The Wombats and The Zutons to mention just two, and the love affair continues with new band Man Get Out.

2011 saw Man Get Out hit the ground running on the Liverpool music scene with their debut EP 'This is What Happens When You Whisper Through A Megaphone'. The launch of 'Berlin' in 2012 will undoubtedly see the bands momentum continue.

Lloyd, Rob, Joe, Chris and Lars who together form Man Get Out recorded the track in Studio 1 in Parr St Studios. Produced by the up-and-coming Tony Draper and mixed by Al Groves of Sandhills Studios - the track is an absolute delight.

'Berlin' is available for purchase on all major online retailers from midnight on the 28 January 2012. There will also be a limited physical release on the same day. We've had a sneak preview of the single and it's no wonder the boys are excited about this launch party.
