Glaswegian quartet Laki Mera combine eery fragile folk beauty with a gloriously atmospheric clash of sinister electronica and enticing pop hooks on their 'wonderful debut album', The Proximity Effect. They create 'a ghostly wall of sound of extraordinary emotional power' (Sunday Times ****), a dense folktronic architecture with an intricacy and subtlety that earns them breathless comparisons with Cocteau Twins, Portishead and The xx, yet they are defined only by themselves - their music born from a love of innovative, technological exploration and organic artistry.

'This is how it should be done. Its the most confident debut I've heard in a long while. It has the calm authority of musicians who know exactly what they want to do, are prepared to work stupid hours torealise and perfect it' Drowned in Sound 8/10

What makes Laki Mera so unique is their ability to perfect such variety of musical genres whilst remaining true to their native Scottish routes; a group of exceptional musical talent with an unforgettable sound, whose creativity and haunting creations are a rare find amongst the ordinary and conventional.

This remix of 'Crater' from the album by fellow Glaswegians Mogwai is both inventive and exciting, the first half's low repeating electronic drone sounds like something that would fit nicely on Mogwai's Mr Beast and and the slowed down tempo works impressively with angel voiced Laura Donelly's hypnotic vocals to create something of pure bliss.

"Not since the Blue Nile's first recording has such well crafted music appeared from a Scottish band' The Herald
